Meditations on a Theme : Speed
by merlyn on Feb.22, 2005, under Poetry
Running
Running for my sanity,
Speed kills,
Speed saves.
Pursued by myself,
my fears…my anger.
Running for my heart,
Trying to find myself…
Trying to find my refuge,
my home.
Running for my life,
Drowning in my soul,
Drowning in my life.
Looking for rescue…
for safety.
Speed
Speed is life,
Adrenaline pumps.
Cars flashing by,
Seeming to move backwards.
Always faster,
Just a little more…
reaching out,
Where is the end?
Empty
by merlyn on Feb.19, 2005, under Poetry
Deep inside, where no one can see,
a empty spot lies on my soul.
There is no filling it,
because the hunger it brings,
is not physical,
but the warmth and comfort
that only love brings.
Arms enfolding,
drawing tighter,
keeping out the dark
and driving out pain.
Someone to let me know,
I am not alone,
I do not have to be lonely,
I do not have to be scared.
Even for one night,
someone to hold me,
and let me cry
Let me shed my pain.
A Cycle
by merlyn on Feb.06, 2005, under Poetry
Morning…
Arising, automaton-like from the empty bed.
Staggering through the motions of life beginning.
Noon…
A hurried meal, if at all.
Nothing more special than whatever’s available.
Evening…
Floating through the day,
Touching lives, yet strangely untouched.
Night…
Alone, a darkened room serves as a backdrop,
For the final stages.
Closing…
A cold bed, empty, bereft,
Shared only with the tears.
Tears Fall
by merlyn on Feb.04, 2005, under Poetry
Harsh words in the moonlight,
tears fall like the stars.
Cheeks they trace,
Outlining pain thought forgotten.
Buried sobs, held back;
No comforting arms…
No gentle lips to kiss the
tears falling in the silence.
Time changes…
The players pass through
Pain flares in dawn’s light,
tears fall like rain.
This time caught…
Like precious jewels
By embrace enfolding,
And words comforting.
